Spin into serenity: Discover Mindfulnes through Mandalas
Join us for an exciting and transformative art therapy session where you’ll explore the power of mindfulness and creativity through the creation of mandalas. We’ll start with a warm welcome and introduction, where you’ll get to know each other and learn what to expect from the session.
We’ll introduce you to the concept of mindfulness and its benefits, emphasizing being present in the moment without judgment. Next, we’ll guide you through a short mindfulness meditation to help center yourself and focus on your thoughts and feelings with deep breathing, enhanced by calming background music or nature sounds.
Afterward, we’ll introduce mandalas and their significance as symbols of the universe and tools for meditation, and then provide materials like paper, drawing tools, and coloringsupplies. You’ll have time to create your own mandala, focusing on your breathing and staying mindful while drawing and colouring.
We’ll suggest starting from the center and working outward, allowing your designs to flow naturally, with gentle guidance and support as needed, all set to soothing background music.
Once your mandalas are complete, you’ll have the opportunity to share them with the group, explaining what they represent and how the process felt, in a supportive atmosphere with positive feedback.
We’ll close the session with a reflection activity, asking you to consider how creating mandalas helped you practice mindfulness, summarizing key points discussed, and encouraging you to continue this practice in your daily life.
