art in paternoster

14 December 2024

We are surrounded by art and beauty here in Paternoster, a quaint coastal village that feels like a breath of fresh air after a busy and stressful year. The charm of this place is immediate and enveloping.

When we arrived yesterday, our first stop was the Art Shed. As we strolled through the various exhibits, one display of exquisite ceramic plates caught our attention. The intricate patterns impressed on the clay were mesmerizing, and I couldn’t resist running my fingers over the delicate designs. Each color seemed more beautiful than the last, inviting a tactile exploration that felt almost magical.

The owner sat outside, a picture of serenity, while the assistant informed us about an upcoming class. With a hopeful smile, my sister asked if we could attend. Moments later, the soft-spoken Pam appeared, sized up my sister and me with a kind look, and decided on the spot that we could join the class scheduled for today.

Pam’s warmth and the immediate connection she offered made us feel both welcomed and excited. As we prepared to dive into the creative process, I could already sense the therapeutic power of art working its magic.

When we arrived this morning, a mix of excitement and apprehension filled the air as we wondered what lay ahead. Pam gently laid out our tools, including the round clay bases, and patiently explained the process. That precise moment marked the beginning of our creative journey, as my sister and I each chose our own unique paths to start creating.

There’s something deeply special about the bond between sisters. Each personality shines through in the way we create, reflecting our unique perspectives and approaches. Today, as we molded the clay, we noticed our hands and were moved by the realization that we could see our mother’s hands in ours. It was a powerful moment, grounding us in our shared heritage and the silent understanding we share.

There was no laughing or making fun of each other today. Instead, there was a serene knowing, an unspoken connection that reinforced our support for one another. In our quiet focus, the bond we share felt undeniably strong and profoundly comforting.

This holiday feels different, and I deeply appreciate the soft landing into our period of rest. The gentle pace at which we’ve eased into this time has allowed me to fully embrace the moments of tranquility and connection. It’s as if God stretched His hands to give us this much-needed pause, offering a chance to breathe, reflect, and simply be.

The serenity of Paternoster and the calming presence of the Art Shed have created the perfect backdrop for this transition. As I immerse myself in the creative process, I find solace and rejuvenation. The peaceful environment, has provided a beautiful escape from the busyness of life.

This period of rest is not just a break but a profound opportunity to reconnect with ourselves and God. It’s a reminder that sometimes the most meaningful moments come from slowing down and appreciating the simple, yet profound beauty around us.

Stay tuned for more about our journey and the hidden gems of Paternoster. Until then, keep finding beauty in every moment.
